Mumbai, March 24: Navneet Ravi Rana was elected as Member of Parliament from Amravati parliamentary seat in Maharashtra. Amravati Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra went to polls on April 18 in the second phase of general elections. Shiv Sena leader Adsul Anandrao Vithoba is the sitting Member of Parliament (MP) from Amravati seat. Vithoba has been renominated from the parliamentary seat.

Vithoba will face a challenge from Navneet Ravi Rana of the Yuva Swabhimani Party who is contesting the election as an independent candidate. Rana is supported by the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). The process of filing nomination for Amravati Lok Sabha election began on March 19. The last day for nominations was March 26. In 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the alliance of the BJP, Shiv Sena and Swabhiman Paksha together bagged 42 seats in Maharashtra.
