New Delhi, November 20: Tapir Gao, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday raised a question in Lok Sabha over compensation to the people of Arunachal Pradesh for the land aquired by Army in the northeastern state. Gao said he had requested the former Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and present Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to provide compensation to people of Arunachal Pradesh but nothing has been done so far. The MP has asked a compensation for the land of the locals that has been acquired by Army.

To Gao's question, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman refuted the claims and said she had cleared many compensations during her meeting with Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. "I can commit myself that I had gone there, sat with the CM of Arunachal Pradesh & cleared many of the compensations which was due for the people of Arunachal Pradesh", Sitharaman said.
