New Delhi, July 5: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia and two other Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders will face charges for sitting on dharna outside Rail Bhavan in 2014. A Delhi court on Friday framed charges against Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Rakhi Birla and Somnath Bharti in connection with the case. The court, however, discharged Ashutosh and Sanjay Singh. The Delhi Police booked Kejriwal, Sisodia and other AAP leaders for violating prohibitory orders in the national capital and obstructing public servants during the agitation. In January 2014, the AAP leaders had demonstrated outside Rail Bhavan demanding action against police officials who had refused to conduct a raid on an alleged drug and prostitution racket in south Delhi. The police filed a chargsheet against the six AAP leaders and said they violated prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC and also obstructed public servants in discharge of their official duty. Advocate Rishikesh Kumar and Mohd Irshad appeared for Kejriwal, Sisodia and Sanjay Singh. Ashutosh and Bharti were present in court in person.
