New Delhi, May 18: AfterĀ Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed a threat to his life alleging thatĀ his security officers report to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Delhi PoliceĀ responded thatĀ its personnelĀ are committed to their duties. "Our security personnel posted in chief minister's security team are committed to their duties. The unit has been providing security for several high dignitaries of all political parties," the Delhi Police said on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, Arvind KejriwalĀ claimed that he will be assassinated like former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by his personal security officer. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief said his Personal Security Officers (PSO) vote for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "The BJP would get me murdered by my own PSO one day like Indira Gandhi. My own security officers report to BJP,"Ā Kejriwal told a news channel in Punjab.

"The BJP is after my life, they will murder me one day," Kejriwal, whoĀ was in Punjab to campaign for his party which is contesting on all seats in Lok Sabha elections in Punjab, added. Supporting Kejriwal's claims, AAP legislatorĀ Saurabh Bhardwaj also said his party doesn't trust the Delhi Police. He accused the Delhi Police of not taking action against accused who attacked Kejriwal in the past and said the chief minister was targetted six times despite havingĀ Z plus security.Ā Arvind Kejriwal Slapped by Man During Roadshow in Delhi; Watch Video.

"After Kejriwal became the chief minister of Delhi, he was attacked six times. He was attacked in the presence of Z plus security and even in presence of Delhi police. We have no trust in Delhi police," Bhardwaj said. "In past, one of our former Prime Minister was killed by her own bodyguard. So the security of Kejriwal is an important issue which should not be ignored," the AAP MLA added.

Asked for his reactingĀ about Kejriwal’s comments regarding security,Ā CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury said: "We don’t have any information about what Arvind Kejriwal is saying, but if he is saying such a thing with so much confidence then the central government should take it seriously. This is a question of security and it should not be dealt in a careless manner."Ā Kejriwal was slapped by a man in west Delhi’s Moti Nagar area on May 5 while he was campaigning.
