Mumbai, March 24: A high-stakes electoral contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Beed Lok Sabha seat of Maharashtra. Beed Lok Sabah constituency will go to polls on April 18 in the second phase of general elections. The result of the Beed Lok Sabha election will be announced on May 23. Pritam Gopinath Munde of the BJP is the sitting Member of Parliament (MP) from Beed.
The BJP has renominated Pritam, daughter of late BJP stalwart Gopinath Munde, while the NCP fielded Beed Zilla Parishad member Bajrang Sonwane as its candidate. The process of filing nomination for Beed Lok Sabha election began on March 19. The last day for nominations was March 26. Scrutiny was done on March 27 and the last date for the withdrawal of the nominations was March 29. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP and Shiv Sena contested in an allaince and bagged 23 and 18 seats respectively. The Congress won only two seats and NCP just four.
