- Abduction: According to the September 14 complaint filed by the victim's mother, Naval Kumar missed a mobile phone instalment, prompting the suspects to pick him up from outside his village on September 8 under the pretext of visiting a mobile shop, reports PTI.
- Captivity and Labour: The victim was allegedly confined at an associate's house for four days, subjected to assault, forced into plaster-breaking labour, and compelled to pay INR 2,799 online toward pending dues.

- Charges: Nigohan police registered a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections covering trafficking of a person (143(3)), unlawful compulsory labour (146), wrongful confinement (127(3)), and voluntarily causing hurt (115(2)).
- Arrests and Interrogation: Sushant Sharma, identified during interrogation as a manager handling recovery for TVS Credit Services Limited in Lucknow, and Aniket Singh (26), were arrested following CCTV and technical analysis and produced before a court.
