Lucknow, June 11: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Rekha Verma was booked for allegedly slapping and threatening to kill a police constable who was deployed on her escort duty. Constable Shyam Singh filed a complaint at Mohammadi police station alleging that Rekha Verma slapped him and threatened to kill him on Sunday night. Verma represents Dhaurahra constituency in Lok Sabha.

In his complaint, Constable Shyam Singh alleged that Verma slapped him for no reason and used abusive language. "She passed insulting remarks at me,  slapped me without a reason and immediately left the spot. I have filed a complaint against her. After Singh lodged a complaint against Verma, the police spoke to eye-witnesses and other officials about the incident. Subsequently, SSP Poonam ordered an FIR to be registered against Verma. While Verma hasn't reacted on the complaint, her spokesperson Sumit Tiwari said they had no information about any such incident. The parliamentarian has been booked under sections 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. Verma has been in news earlier for losing her cool.

She got into a scuffle with BJP MLA Shashank Trivedi during the party’s blanket distribution ceremony in Maholi. She was seen waving at shoe at Trivedi in a video of the incident.
