"Today whenever there are elections in any part of the world, the issues are India and PM Modi. In 2016 US Presidential election, Donald Trump had said 'If I become the President I will work in the way PM Modi is working for the development of India'," Yogi was reported as saying.

While Trump had not promised to implement a Modi model, he had expressed affection to the Indian PM's working style while shooting a video for the Republican Hindu Coalition -- a platform of Indian-Americans -- while campaigning for a presidential term.

"I look forward to working with Prime Minister Modi who has been very energetic in reforming the economy and bureaucracy. Great man. I applaud him," he said, while using the "Abki Baar, Trump Sarkaar" catchphrase, inspired by the BJP's 2014 poll slogan of "Abki Baar, Modi Sarkaar".
