Hyderabad, May 23:Ā Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) candidateĀ Ganeshamurthi A won theĀ Erode Lok Sabha in Tamil Nadu.Ā The DMK candidate defeated Manimaran G of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and bagged the seat with a huge margin.Ā The counting of votes for the Erode Lok Sabha Constituency began at 8 AM on Thursday, May 23. This is one of the 39 Parliamentary constituencies in Tamil Nadu which went to poll on April 18.Ā This constituency hasĀ sixĀ assembly constituents, of which one is for the SC category.
The constituency number of Erode is 17 and is notĀ reserved for any category i.e. it falls into the General Category.Ā According to Election Commission of India (ECI) data, the total electorates in the Erode Parliamentary constituency were 1,010,079 of which 502,945 are females and 507,134 are males.
