Bengaluru, March 27: Raising fears about the income tax raids on Congress- Janata Dal (Secular), Karnataka Cheif Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Wednesday claimed that more than 300 Income Tax officials are on their way to Bengaluru to carry out I-T raids in the south Indian state. Claiming it as a vengeance politics by the central government, Kumaraswamy warned that he would follow the move what West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee did.

"More than 300 Income Tax officials are on their way to Bengaluru, they may start raids tomorrow. It's vengeance politics by the central government, we know it's happening because of elections, if they continue like this, we'll do what West Bengal CM did, " said Kumaraswamy, speaking to news agency ANI, in Mandya. Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy Reacts on ‘I Will Resign’ Comment, Says ‘Was Compelled’.

The 59-year-old leader said that raids may be carried out at 5 am in the morning on Thursday. Kumaraswamy alleged that Centre led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had resorted vengeance using the income tax officials as its agents.

Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee had staged a dharna "Save the Constitution" from February 3, 2019, to February 5, 2019, at Kolkata against the Central Bureau of Investigation's bid to question Rajeev Kumar, Kolkata Police Commissioner, in connection with chit fund scam.
