The Lok Sabha witnessed a sharp verbal exchange during the ongoing debate on the Women’s Reservation Bill as BJP MP Kangana Ranaut launched a scathing attack on Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi. Speaking to the media outside the House, Ranaut expressed her frustration with Gandhi’s address, describing it as a "headache" and accusing him of undermining the dignity of the legislative process.
The Mandi MP’s remarks followed a heated session where Gandhi criticized the government’s implementation strategy for the quota bill, linking it to the delimitation exercise and the demand for a caste census. Ranaut, however, dismissed his performance as lacking substance. "It was such a headache to listen to him," Ranaut said. "He was going through his childhood trauma, and then he took us to a magic show. It was all nuisance. Speaker Sir told him to stop, and Rahul Gandhi replied, ‘Aapko maza aayega’. He has turned Parliament into a joke", she added. Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Magician of Balakot, Demonetisation, Sindoor’ Jibe at PM Narendra Modi Sparks Uproar in Lok Sabha (Watch Video).
Earlier in the debate, Ranaut had lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the "flag bearer of feminism," praising the government for its commitment to women's empowerment. In contrast, Gandhi’s speech focused on the delay in implementing the 33% reservation, calling the current bill a "shameful act" that bypasses the immediate needs of OBC women. While the BJP maintains the bill is a historic step for "Nari Shakti," the Congress-led opposition continues to question the timing and transparency of the proposed delimitation-linked rollout.
