Mumbai, October 10: In Loha Vidhan Sabha seat of Maharashtra, the electoral contest is between the Shiv Sen and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). The sitting MLA from Loha assembly seat is Shiv Sena's Chikhalikar Prataprao Govindrao. For the October 21 assembly elections, however, the Uddhav Thackeray-led party nominated Mukteshwar Keshavrao Dhondge as its candidate. The NCP fielded Dilip Shankarrao Dhondge from Loha. According to the seat-sharing pact, the Shiv Sena is contesting 124 of 288 seats in Maharashtra assembly, whereas its ally BJP has 164 seats in its quota. The Congress and the NCP are fighting on 125 seats each. In the 2014 Maharashtra assembly elections, the BJP emerged as the single largest party winning 122 seats. The Shiv Sena came second with 63 seats. The Congress and NCP bagged 42 and 41 seats respectively. Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, Rashtriya Samaj Paksha and Samajwadi Party won one seat each. Seven Independents also won in the elections. Polling for the Maharashtra assembly elections 2019 will take place on October 21. Nearly 9 crore people are eligible to participate in the electoral exercise. The Election Commission will announce results on October 24. The term of Maharashtra assembly ends on November 9.
