Bhopal, January 17: The Kamal Nath-led Congress government in Madhya Pradesh is facing protest from its own legislator against the alleged non-fulfillment of poll promises. The MLA who has rose up in protest, Munnalal Goyal, represents the Gwalior East constituency in the state assembly. He decided to launch an agitation after the administration bulldozed illegal accommodations built by "landless poor" in his constituency. Kamal Nath Responds to Jyotiraditya Scindia, Digvijaya Singh as Congress Infighting Escalates in Madhya Pradesh.

Goyal is an avowed supporter of former Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) chief Jyotiraditya Scindia -- who is considered in the inner party circles as a rival of Chief Minister Kamal Nath. The dharna by Goyal is expected to widen the differences between the Nath and Scindia camp.

"This is to remind government of promises made in poll manifesto. It was promised that landless poor will get land. In my constituency, they haven't got it, instead administration is acting against them," he told reporters, while announcing his decision to stage a sit-in protest against the government.

Earlier today, Goyal caused a flutter by boycotting the special session of the state Assembly to ratify the 126th Constitutional Amendment over the issue of the demolition of some houses and denial of lease deeds to the landless poor in his constituency.
