Bhopal, May 7: A day after former Madhya Pradesh chief minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan took out an 'oil lantern march' in the state capital, Congress leader Suresh Pachouri reached his residence on Tuesday with 22 lakh letters by farmers containing details of farmers loans that have been waived off by Kamal Nath government.

Supported by people, carrying sacks of 22 lakh letters on their head, Congress leaders reached to the residence claiming that farmers' loans were waived off by the Kamal Nath-led government in the state. Leading the campaign was former Union Minister and Congress leader Suresh Pachouri, who along with his supporters reached Chauhan's residence in Bhopal stating that loans were waived off and Congress's promise was not a 'jumla'. Shivraj Singh Chouhan Holds ‘Oil Lantern March’ in Bhopal, Says ‘Dark Era in MP is Back Under Congress Government’.

Earlier on Sunday, Chauhan took out a 'lantern march' in the state capital to protest against the alleged discrepancies in the loan waiver schemes of the Kamal Nath government. Along with the farmers' issue, the aim of BJP's march was to demonstrate against the shortage of electricity in the state ever since the Congress government came to power.

Chauhan on Saturday even slammed the ruling Congress government for fooling people on the issue of farm loan waiver. He had said, "Both Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Kamal Nath gave contradictory statements on farm loan waiver. While the former is saying that the loans of farmers were waived within two hours of forming a Congress government in the state, the latter has sent messages to lakhs of farmers on their mobiles stating that though the application for waiving loans have been received, it cannot be granted as Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the Lok Sabha elections is in place."
