Vrindavan, February 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Ram Naik, on Monday served food to children and interacted with them at the 'Akshaya Patra' mid-day meal programme in Vrindavan. PM Narendra Modi served the third billionth meal to the children by the Akshaya Patra Foundation at the Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir campus. Speaking at the event, PM Modi said the central government is committed to ensuring quality food to children while highlighting that well-nourished children are a key asset for a country’s strength. "I am fortunate that I am serving the 300th crore thali. We are committed to ensuring quality food to our children. The first thali was served during Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s regime. PM Modi underlined that the Centre is committed to ensuring a healthy childhood, adding that quality food, vaccination and cleanliness are the aspects for a child to be well-nourished. Noting that the Centre’s flagship initiative — Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was receiving global attention, the Prime Minister informed that under the programme, the lives of about three lakh people could be saved according to an international report. Arvind Kejriwal Stirs Controversy, Calls Narendra Modi PM of Pakistan. 

Akshaya Patra, the Bengaluru-based foundation, incepted in 2000, serves wholesome school lunch to over 1.76 million children in 14,702 schools across 12 states in India, according to its website.
