Bengaluru, July 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah, have time and again claimed that agriculture and farmers remain the top priority of the BJP government in Centre. However, it must have been beyond their imagination that farmers would use their cutouts as scarecrows.

According to The Times of India, farmers in Lakkavalli "hobli" of the Tarikere taluka in Karnataka have been using the cutouts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party president Amit Shah as scarecrows which can be seen across the farms and fields.

One would be hard-pressed to think as to what made the farmers use the cutouts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah for the purpose mentioned above, but there is no political angle to it, instead, the decision is motivated by convenience and street-smartness.

The cut-outs are from the campaigning of the recently concluded Assembly Elections in Karnataka where many cut-outs were used by the BJP to wrest the state from Congress. Just that, two months ago, the cutouts were used to attract voters, and now they are used to prevent the birds from harming their crops.

The recently concluded Karnataka Assembly Elections saw a nail-biting post-election verdict drama as BJP's Yeddyurappa had to resign within 55 hours of becoming the Chief Minister of Karnataka. Yeddyurappa had failed to prove majority on the floor of the house, and Janata Dal (United) party's HD Kumaraswamy became the chief minister of Karnataka after his party entered a coalition with the Congress.
