New Delhi, December 6: Indian National Congress (INC) general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday, December 6, targeted Uttar Pradesh government for the rising crime against women. Speaking to media, she said that it is the government's responsibility to ensure safety. She also informed that in the last 11 months, around 90 rape cases were reported in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao. "It is the govt’s responsibility to maintain law & order. In Unnao alone, there were 90 rape cases in the last 11 months. The other Unnao victim lost all her family & the accused is still protected by the govt & what action is the CM taking," said Priyanka Gandhi. The rape survivor, who was on her way to Rae Bareli district on Thursday morning, was allegedly attacked by the accused and set on fire. The Uttar Pradesh government said that the five accused have been arrested. Among held for attacking 23-year-old woman include one Shivam, who is the main accused in the rape case.

The woman, who sustained over 90 percent burns, was airlifted to New Delhi and admitted to Safdarjung Hospital. She is said to be extremely critical and on a ventilator.
