Kolkata, May 15: With the row over the murkiest caricature of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sparking a debate, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a jibe at the TMC chief on Wednesday. Taking a swipe at Banerjee, PM Modi said that he won't file an FIR against her, even if she makes a murkiest image of him after becoming PM again.
Taking a sarcastic note on the BJP social media worker Priyanka Sharma arrest row, PM Modi said in his Basirhat rally, "Didi, aap khud artist ho, aapse agrah karunga, aap mera bhadde se bhadda chitra banaiye aur May 23 ke baad, meri PM shapth ke baad, meri jo tasveer aapne banayi hai woh mujhe bhent karen, mein aap par FIR nahi karunga (Didi you are an artist. I request you to make a repugnant painting of mine. After May 23, you gift to me when I become PM again. I promise I won't file FIR against you." Modi in his speech even expressed his shock on the way Sharma was arrested. Claiming that the daughters of Bengal would teach Banerjee a lesson, PM Modi said, "Didi jin betiyon ko aap jail mein daalne ka kaam kar rahi hain wahi betiyaan aapko sabak dene wali hain. Ek tasveer ke liye itna gussa? (Didi..the daughters whom you are trying to put behind bars are the only ones to teach you a lesson. Why so much anger for just a meme?)"
The BJP stalwart was even of the opinion that his party would secure more than 30 seats in West Bengal. He said, "All the surveys are giving BJP a full majority on its own, but Didi after seeing your frustration and the support from the people of Bengal, I'm saying that Bengal will help us win more than 300 seats."
Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court pulled up the West Bengal government over the delay in the release of BJP Yuva Morcha leader Priyanka Sharma, who was arrested for a meme on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. It is to be known that an FIR was lodged by TMC against Sharma for allegedly sharing an unsavoury meme of Mamata Banerjee on Facebook, where Banerjee’s face was photoshopped on to actor Priyanka Chopra’s picture from the MET Gala event in New York. Following this, she was arrested on May 10 and sent to two weeks' judicial custody.
