Srinagar, February 17: In the wake of violent protests against the deadly attack in Pulwama carried out by Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad, Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday sealed People Democratic Party's office in Jammu ahead of former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti's visit to the city. The police said the PDP office was sealed in view of the law and order situation in Jammu.

A curfew in Jammu continued for a third consecutive day on Sunday with the authorities saying that it will remain in force until the law and order situation improves in the city. On Friday, miscreants torched some vehicles and damaged several others carrying number plates of Kashmir Valley in protest against the Pulwama terror attack. Tension mounted against a particular section of the society in Jammu city on Friday in the wake of Pulwama terror attack. Protests erupted after 40 CRPF personnel were killed when their convoy was targeted on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway on Thursday. The convoy comprised 78 buses in which around 2500 personnel were travelling from Jammu to Srinagar. Soon after, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) claimed responsibility for the attack.

Earlier today, the state administration also decided to withdraw the security cover of five separatist leaders, including Mirwaiz Umer Farooq. "A decision has been taken to withdraw the security cover of five separatist leaders -- Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, professor Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Lone, Hashim Qureshi and Shabir Ahmad Shah," state government sources told news agency IANS.

The move after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who visited the Kashmir Valley on Friday, had said that security provided to those who receive money from Pakistan would be reviewed. Senior separatist leaders Syed Ali Geelani and Muhammad Yasin Malik were not provided with any security cover by the state government.
