New Delhi, May 21: The nation on Tuesday paid homage to former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi on his 28th death anniversary today. Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated in a suicide bombing at Sriperumbudur of Tamil Nadu on this day in 1991. On Tuesday, Congress President Rahul Gandhi, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress General Secretary for UP (East) Priyanka Gandhi Vadra paid floral tribute to the former Prime Minister on his death anniversary at Veer Bhumi. The Congress party too took to Twitter to remember Rajiv Gandhi and honour the life of Late PM. Hailing the Ex-PM, Congress tweeted saying he was a visionary leader and a fine human being. He stood for compassion, love & truth. He is dearly missed today and everyday.  "Let us build an India proud of her independence, strong, self-reliant... united by bonds transcending caste creed & region; liberated from the bondage of poverty, & of social & economic inequity" Today we honour the life of Late PM Shri Rajiv Gandhi", the INC tweeted.

On the special day today, India remembered the contributions of the youngest PM of our country. Gandhi's innovations were truly noteworthy as they led to the onset of a technological revolution in India. Moreover his dynamic leadership and amiable personality are an inspiration to many.
