New Delhi, September 26: Intensifying a counter-attack on the government over the Rafale deal, Congress president Rahul Gandhi's brother-in-law Robert Vadra on Wednesday broke silence and said the charges made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against him are a farce. Vadra said the BJP rakes up his name every time they are cornered. "Having all the agencies under their beck and call....no one knows better than the present government and the BJP that they have indulged in a baseless political witch hunt against me for the last 4 years", Vadra was quoted by ANIRafale Deal: Correct Your Facts, Congress Tells BJP on Robert Vadra's Involvement.

On Tuesday, the BJP accused Vadra and the Gandhi family of having looted the country. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra asked Gandhi to respond to allegations involving Vadra, and claimed that people will answer his charges against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. "Vadra will certainly go to jail for allegedly helping a defence dealer in bagging contracts during the UPA's rule," Patra said. However, Vadra has been denying these allegations and has accused the Modi government of political vendetta.

Vadra took to Facebook and said that it used to amaze him in the beginning but now it has become a wholesale farce that the BJP rakes up his name every time they are cornered whether its the falling rupee, soaring oil prices or this latest number when they have been totally exposed selling out the nation on Rafale deal.

Take a look at Robert Vadra's Facebook Post:

"Having all the agencies under their beck and call....no one knows better than the present government and the BJP that they have indulged in a baseless political witch hunt against me for the last 4 years", Vadra said in his post.

Taking a jibe at the BJP, Vadra said the BJP should instead man up with their 56” chests and tell the nation the truth about the Rafale deal rather than hiding behind a bunch of lies that the people are fed up of hearing them repeat.

The BJP has turned the heat on the Congress and raked up the alleged corruption of Vadra after Rahul Gandhi targeted Modi over the alleged corruption in the Rafale deal. At a press conference on Tuesday, Patra gave the address of a London flat, details of the defence dealer's bank account through which money was allegedly paid to Vadra and his first-class flight tickets bought by the dealer's travel firm, a report by PTI informed.
