Voting has concluded in Rajasthan  the final state to go to polls, along with Telangana. The Election Commission recorded a voter turnout of 72.2 per cent, till 5 pm. The numbers are expected to rise as polling in some of the constituencies was extended till 5:30pm to allow those lined up in queue to cast their votes.

The months of electioneering in Rajasthan witnessed a series of low political attacks levelled by the two major parties against each other. While the Congress targeted the BJP government over unemployment, slump in business and law and order, the Congress was accused of blocking development, minority appeasement and comprising with national security.

In 2013, Rajasthan gave the BJP an overwhelming mandate, with Vasundhara Raje being sworn-in as the Chief Minister with 163 MLAs in her camp. The then incumbent Congress was voted out, and reduced to only 21 seats in the 200-member assembly -- considered as the party's worst electoral performance in the frontier state.
