Lucknow, August 4:  The hearing in the Unnao rape case will resume from Monday in Delhi's Tis Hazari court. Earlier, the court had issued a production warrant against MLA Sengar and Shashi Singh, asking them and others involved in the case to be produced before the court on August 5, 2019 at 12.30 PM. While on Sunday, a day before the hearing, the CBI raided at least 17 premises related to rape accused MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, in connection to investigations related to the rape case.

Earlier, arms licences of expelled BJP legislator Kuldeep Singh Sengar were cancelled on Saturday. On July 28, a truck rammed into the vehicle in which the Unnao rape survivor, her counsel and two aunts were travelling to Raebareli. While she and her lawyer sustained grievous injuries, her aunts were killed on the spot. The Unnao rape survivor’s family filed a complaint alleging “conspiracy” behind the car crash. The Supreme Court ordered shifting of all the five cases related to the Unnao rape case to a Delhi court from Lucknow and ordered that the hearing in the case be completed in 45 days. The court also ordered providing of interim relief of Rs 25 Lakh to the rape survivor, which has been complied with as Lucknow DM recently met the mother of the survivor and handed over the cheque. Following the public outrage and the uproar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday expelled Kuldeep Singh Sengar from the party. UP BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh said in Lucknow that the party’s central leadership has expelled him. His statement earlier in the day that Sengar was suspended and not sacked from the party had created confusion over the MLA’s fate. Sources said BJP working president J P Nadda called up Singh to inform him of the party’s decision and asked him to make an announcement.
