Sitaram Yechury Leaves For Srinagar After Supreme Court Gave Him Permission to Meet Yousuf Tarigami in Jammu And Kashmir

Communist Party of India-Marxist General Secretary Sitaram Yechury has left for Srinagar from Delhi Airport today. On Wednesday, Supreme Court gave Yechury the permission to visit Jammu and Kashmir and meet his party leader and former MLA, Yousuf Tarigami.

New Delhi, August 29: Communist Party of India-Marxist General Secretary Sitaram Yechury has left for Srinagar from Delhi Airport today. On Wednesday, Supreme Court gave Yechury the permission to visit Jammu and Kashmir and meet his party leader and former MLA, Yousuf Tarigami. Jammu And Kashmir: Mobile Phone Services Resume in Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri And Poonch Districts.

Following that, Yechury wrote to Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik, asking permission to travel with an attendant to meet his party colleague Mohammed Yusuf Tarigami.

He wrote, "Since I am not keeping good health and require assistance, a personal attendant would also be accompanying me. Since I am coming there in pursuance of the directions of the Supreme Court, I hope that I will be permitted a personal attendant. An early reply is solicited to facilitate travel arrangements."

On Wednesday, the apex court allowed Yechury to visit Kashmir to meet Tarigami and file an affidavit on his health condition after his return from the valley. The court has instructed Yechury not to use his visit for any other purpose.

The mobile phone services which were snapped across Jammu And Kashmir since August 5, have been resumed in five districts of Jammu region- Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri and Poonch.

The state has been on lockdown since August 4, following the abrogation of Article 370, and all communication services in the region have been blocked, including cellular network, landline, mobile internet, and broadband connectivity.
