With the arrival of Chand Raat, digital platforms are witnessing a surge in festive messages. Chand Raat, Eid 2026 Date in India

Chand Raat, which translates to "Night of the Moon," is the eve of the first day of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic lunar calendar (1447 AH). In India, religious committees and families will gather on rooftops and in open spaces after the Maghrib prayer to search for the thin sliver of the new moon.

If the crescent is sighted today, Eid 2026 or Eid Ul Fitr will be celebrated on Friday, March 20, in India. If the moon is not visible, Ramadan will complete 30 days, with Eid falling on Saturday, March 21.
