Mumbai, September 6: The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is just a week away and the city is gearing up for the welcoming of the Ganpati idols. The  Chinchpokali cha Chintamani is one among the famous pandals in the city. 2018 marks the stepping into 100th year of Chinchpokali Sarvajanik Utsav Mandal, thus a logo was launched to celebrate the occasion. The unveiling of the logo took place at Shivaji Mandar Natyagruha in Dadar. After a series of dance performances, the logo was unveiled. The getting of the Ganpati idol or the aagman sohla will take place on Saturday, September 8 from afternoon 12 pm onwards. Ganesh Chaturthi 2018: Stories & Legends to Know Everything About Birth of Lord Ganesha & Why It Is Celebrated.

The logo is designed by calligraphy artist Achyut Palav. Marathi actress Spruha Joshi and Aadesh Bandekar were also present for the programme. Being the 99th year the enthusiasm about the festival has already kicked in among the organisers and residents alike. "The idea of designing a logo for the festival came in with the next year marking the 100th year of celebration. Chinchpokali Chintamani Ganpati has been a milestone of discipline and a similar resemblance of the milestone has been taken in the logo," said Achyut Palav.

The organisers have already made plans to mark the centenary celebrations next year. There will be an idol-making competition for all sculptors across Maharashtra. They will have to make an idol from clay as per the shape given by the Chinchpokali Sarvajanik Utsav Mandal. All these idols will be exhibited and it will kickstart another set of events that will be organised for the 100th year. As of now, the excitement is about getting the huge Ganpati idol to the pandal. The welcoming event will start at Bharatmata in the afternoon.
