How to Dress Your Daughter Beautifully as Radha

1. Ghaghra Choli/Lehenga

While dressing up a boy as Lord Krishna needs a certain dress code, dressing up a girl as Radha is comparatively simpler. If you have a nice bright coloured lehenga or ghaghra choli at home, you can dress your daughter with that outfit. If you do plan to purchase, try and select a Rajasthani or Gujarati style ghaghra or lehenga like Bandini material. Ensure that the work on the costume is light and of soft material such as cotton or silk.

2. Accessories

A traditional look is only complete when a woman wears jewellery. You can adorn your little girl with accessories like colourful bangles or matching bangles with the costume, a maang tikka on her forehead, delicate earrings, anklets and if you like add on a kamar bandh. Do not over accessorise, especially if the girl is a toddler.

3. Hair & Makeup

All girls love doing makeup. But since we are working with children here, make sure that you use minimal makeup as they have extremely sensitive skin. It is best to stick to the basics. Apply a little powder foundation, kajal (try a little to check for any eye burns), a light lipstick or a lip gloss. For hair, if your daughter has nice long hair, tie a single braid and you can add flowers like mogra for the added glamour. If your daughter has short hair, drape the dupatta on top of her head. Finish the entire look with a small bindi.

There you go, your beautiful Radha is ready. Now if you are dressing up your children as both Radha and Krishna for a same function, it is best if you dress them in matching or complimenting outfits. You can also make your daughter hold a matka or a pot in her hand or she can pose with it by placing it on her head.
