Mumbai, July 30:  Donations worth Rs 6,40,95,305 have been received during Guru Purnima celebrations at Sai temple in Shirdi in Maharashtra. According to a tweet by ANI, the donations include Rs 13.83 lakh in jewellery, Rs 6.41 in cash, and Rs 11.25 in foreign currency. Guru Purnima was celebrated with religious fervour across the state on July 27.

On the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, hundreds of devotees throng at the famous Sai Baba Temple in Shirdi. The celebrations took place for three days which began on Guru Purnima. People from across the world visited Shirdi Temple to seek the blessings of the Lord. This year Guru Purnima was more special because it fell on total lunar eclipse day.

Sai Baba is seen as a guru, spiritual saint or even satguru by devotees. Shirdi Sai Baba took samadhi on October 15, 1918. Guru Purnima is celebrated at Shirdi before the commencement of lunar eclipse that started before midnight on July 27, 2018. For Hindus, Guru Purnima, which is observed on a full moon day of Ashadha month, holds special significance as on this day spiritual and academic teachers are remembered by all.
