Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain died at the age of 61. He has reportedly committed suicide, making it difficult to believe for all his colleagues and followers. He was filming his latest episode of Parts Unknown for CNN network. He was found unresponsive by close friend and French chef Eric Ripert in a hotel in France where he was shooting.

A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, he was a veteran of numerous professional kitchens. Bourdain was one of the most influential chefs in the world and his death has shook the culinary industry. "His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time," informed CNN. His culinary achievements were even noted down in books and TV presentations. He himself was a writer and not limited his scope to food and food alone. He wrote on his travel adventures as well. His book Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly released in 2000 was extremely popular.

Anthony Bourdain was an inspiration to many and to read of his death cause as suicide is even more shocking. Indian celebrated chef also expressed his shock over this news. He tweeted, "IN SHOCK Anthony Bourdain: Celebrity chef found dead at 61." A legend in his own right, Bourdain's death is darkness in the fields of food and travel combined. An active personality, forever smiling and having experiences to share, it is indeed disappointing to know he left us soon. May his soul rest in peace.
