The Half Dome in Yosemite National Park has been an iconic tourist destination for years that attracts thousands of hikers every year. Enthusiasts seek to summit the 4,800-foot granite formation that leads to a breath-taking panoramic view. However, the half-dome has also taken lives of people, in the past, trying to raid it. On Thursday an Arizona woman who has been identified as Danielle Burnett died after falling 500 feet down from the half dome. She was 29-year-old from Arizona's Lake Havasu City. The steep segment that she was trying to climb is said to require hikers to cling to cables for stability, as per the Washington Post. Also, the park does warn that the route is "not suitable for novice or unfit hikers".  Indian Couple Were Clicking Selfie When They Fell Off Cliff at Yosemite National Park, Says Family Member.

Half Dome is a granite dome at the eastern end of Yosemite Valley in Yosemite National Park, California. The famous rock formation in the park has a sheer face on one side while the other three sides are smooth and round. It gives an appearance of a dome cut in half. Its height is 4,737 ft (1,444 m) above the valley floor.

Danielle's sister, Nicole Burnett posted an image of her on Facebook and informed everyone about her demise. She wrote: "It's with a broken heart to inform you all that our beautiful Danielle left us yesterday doing something she loved so much. We ask that you please give the family time and privacy to grieve. Out of respect for her Mother and Father please do not send any flowers or call. This will take time. Thank you for understanding."

Hiking and similar forms of outdoor adventures have been known to be extremely tricky. On one hand, there is the excitement of reaching the heights and on the other, one has to put their life at stake. This is not the first time Half Dome has seen such a fatal accident. In fact, over 100 climbing accidents occur in Yosemite each year. Last year, an Indian couple- Vishnu Viswanath, 29, and Meenakshi Moorthy, 30- fell to their deaths from Taft Point in Yosemite National Park. They died after falling 800 feet in an area with steep terrain in California's Yosemite National Park.
