Azamgarh Students Question Additional INR 500 Fee

The protesting students questioned why they were being asked to pay an additional INR 500, claiming they were told the money was being collected on the instructions of the management.

They also alleged that fees were being collected under different heads, including maintenance and library expenses, without satisfactory explanations about how the amounts were being used. The students said they were seeking greater transparency over the fees being charged and fair treatment from the institution. Gen Alpha Students Protest Outside Hamirpur DM Office With Tricolour, Demand Road to School (Videos).

Teacher Shortage Becomes Major Protest Issue

Along with the fee-related concerns, students raised questions about the quality of education and shortage of subject teachers. One of their main demands was the appointment of a chemistry teacher. Following the protest, students said they were assured that a chemistry teacher would be available within 48 hours.

The students warned that they would return to the school and resume their protest if the teacher was not appointed within the promised timeframe. One protest placard carried the message: "Without chemistry teacher, our future is burning like acid"

Students Say They Want To Continue At Same School

The students maintained that they did not want to leave the institution and instead wanted adequate teachers and better academic facilities.

Tension reportedly developed during the demonstration when students alleged that a woman teacher asked them to end the protest and return to their classes. The students, however, continued to press their demands.

People supporting the protesting students alleged that education officials had previously directed the institution to refund certain amounts collected from students. According to the allegations, the money had not been returned.

Supporters also raised allegations concerning the management of the institution and staff appointments. These allegations remain part of the claims made by the protesters and their supporters.

Students Warn Of Fresh Protest

The students said their immediate focus was on getting a chemistry teacher appointed and addressing their concerns over fees and teaching facilities. They said they would wait for the promised 48-hour deadline before deciding on their next course of action.

If the assurance is not fulfilled, the students warned that they would return to the school and resume their protest.

The demonstration has been described by some observers as another example of young students organising around education-related grievances and demanding accountability from institutions.

The students' concerns in Azamgarh centre on three broad issues: fee transparency, adequate teaching staff and the quality of education. The claims raised during the protest would require verification by the institution and education authorities.
