A massive theft case has emerged from Ahmedabad, where a saleswoman at a jewellery showroom allegedly fled with gold ornaments worth nearly INR 1.66 crore. The entire incident was reportedly captured on CCTV cameras installed inside the store.

According to the complaint filed by the showroom owner, the accused, identified as Harshida Shetty, had been working at the jewellery store for the last 11 months. Reports suggest Harshida informed co-workers that the owner had granted her leave due to urgent personal work and exited the store around 4:30 pm. Suspicion arose later in the evening when staff members noticed a gold bracelet missing from a display tray while attending to customers.

A detailed stock verification reportedly found several missing items, including gold chains, rings, mangalsutras, pendants, earrings, watches and other ornaments collectively valued at around Rs 1.66 crore.

Police officials said the accused woman’s mobile phone has remained switched off since the incident. A case has been registered, and teams have launched a search operation to trace her.
