Onions, onions and onions, the pungent vegetable bulb has become the centre point of debate in India. Some people are currently opting out the veggie from their diet as the prices are insanely going high. While others are bargaining for 250 grams, hoping that could stitch the holes in their pockets! The value of onions per kilo has hit the century mark in several states. The price hike has become fodder for various debates and most significantly memes and jokes. And the recent remark of Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman in terms of onion price hike, has worsened the situation even more. Amid all the chaos and skyrocketing price, we urge you to take a moment and look at some of the enticing Insta-worthy pictures of onions. If you cannot eat them, you can at least take a look at the most hyped vegetable, as a respite! The pics are sure to bring tears of joy.

Onions are super healthy, and these flavourful bulbs are packed with nutrients. It is hardly possible, especially for us Indians, who swear by spicy meals. The fried onion rings, pakodas during the monsoon, chat, every corner of street food and homemade meals, of course, cannot go without the pungent bulb. Not that onions are functionally necessary for any recipe. You can take them away! But it will not taste as good. Unless you are a Jain, it is outrightly difficult for you to admit if any meal is ever possible without the springs of onions. And we don’t blame you! It is because of such tiny but significant reasons that the vegetable have always been in demand, even when they were affordable.

In a real sense, onions are what make food food, going beyond mere sustenance and making it enjoyable instead! While we mourn the speedy price hike, let us take some respite by looking at these beautiful pictures of onions.

These pictures surely justify our forever bond with onions and why we so mad at the skyrocketing price. It is that rare food that can be sweet, savoury, aromatic and even pocket-friendly (used to be!). We just so hope for better climate and more supply of the vegetable sooner so that we can get back enjoying the pungent ball again!
