A viral video claiming that the loco pilot of the Indore-Mhow DEMU passenger train stopped the train to buy samosas has prompted an official inquiry, with Western Railway later clarifying that the video was "false and misleading" and had been incorrectly linked to the passenger service. According to the railway zone, the video actually showed a goods train that was already halted for operational reasons, during which an Assistant Loco Pilot briefly purchased food.
The video, widely shared on social media, shows a railway staff member stepping off a stationary train, buying snacks from a roadside shop and returning to the locomotive before the train moves ahead. The clip quickly led to claims that the passenger train had been stopped solely for the crew to buy food. Holiday Declared for Schools in Mumbai on July 8? BMC Reveals Truth About Viral Message.

Western Railway Issues Clarification
Western Railway later said the viral claims linking the footage to the Indore-Mhow DEMU passenger train were incorrect.
According to the railway zone, the train seen in the video was a goods train, Concor Green Field Private Terminus (CGPT), hauled by locomotive numbers 27237 and 27600, which had halted at the Rau Home Signal because of scheduled engineering work in the Rau yard. In a fact-check posted on X, Western Railway said: "The claim made in this post is false and misleading." It added: "The goods train (Concor Green Field Private Terminus), hauled by Loco Nos. 27237 & 27600, was already halted at RAU Home Signal due to scheduled engineering work in the RAU yard. It was not stopped to purchase food."
Assistant Loco Pilot Bought Food During Operational Halt
Explaining the circumstances, the railway zone said the Assistant Loco Pilot stepped out briefly to purchase food while the train was already stopped as part of routine operations.
Western Railway stated: "During this operational halt, the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) was seen buying food. This personal act during an authorized stoppage has been deliberately misrepresented to suggest that the train was halted for refreshments, which is completely incorrect." Officials stressed that the stoppage was unrelated to the purchase of food and was part of scheduled railway operations.
Passenger Train Not Involved
Western Railway also said the viral clip had been wrongly linked to the Indore-Mhow DEMU passenger train.
The statement added: "Further, the video has been falsely linked to a passenger DEMU train, whereas the incident involved a goods train. Such selective editing and misrepresentation create unnecessary misinformation and undermine public trust."
Railway Urges Public to Verify Information
The railway zone appealed to social media users not to circulate misleading content and to rely on verified information from official sources. Western Railway said: "Please verify facts before sharing or amplifying misleading content."
It further added: "The public is requested not to believe or circulate misleading content and to verify facts through official sources before sharing." The clarification comes as railway authorities continue to caution the public against sharing unverified videos or claims that may misrepresent operational events.
