What shocked Gwalior as a dramatic daylight bride kidnapping has now turned into a sensational fraud case. Police investigations revealed that the high-voltage incident in the busy Dal Bazaar area was not a kidnapping at all, but a well-planned “Looteri Dulhan” (con bride) scam. CCTV footage that went viral showed bikers smashing a car window and forcefully dragging away a bride, triggering panic across the market. However, police later found that the act was staged. The groom’s father, Mahendra Parashar, had allegedly paid INR 2 lakh to arrange a marriage for his mentally challenged son. The marriage was conducted through a notary, after which the fake abduction drama was executed as per plan. Superintendent of Police Dharmveer Singh Yadav confirmed that three accused have been detained using vehicle details and technical evidence, with INR 90,000 recovered so far. A case has been registered against named and unknown suspects, while police continue hunting the absconding bride and her wider network.
