The Union Cabinet has approved the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for 14 kharif crops, including paddy, ragi, bajra, jowar, maize, and cotton. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the decision on Wednesday, highlighting a significant 50% increase in MSP compared to the cost for these crops. "Some very important decisions have been taken in today's Cabinet meeting for the welfare of farmers. As the kharif season is starting, the Cabinet has approved MSP on 14 crops. The new MSP for paddy is Rs 2,300, which is a Rs 117 increment over the previous MSP," Vaishnaw stated at the briefing. Vaishnaw emphasised the importance of the third term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting that it focuses on continuity with change through numerous decisions aimed at farmers' welfare.
