A major fire incident was averted on the Rudrapur-Haldwani highway near the sugarcane centre in Haldwani today. A scooter, ridden by a young man traveling from Rudrapur to Haldwani, caught fire from the rear end. The rider, unaware of the blaze, continued on his way until a woman standing by the roadside noticed the flames and shouted to alert him. Realising the danger, the rider quickly stopped and got off the scooter. The fire brigade was called to the scene, and they were able to extinguish the fire before it could cause further damage. The video footage shows the severity of the flames engulfing the scooter.
