Panic gripped locals in Haridwar’s Chandi Ghat area on Sunday, October 26, after a massive 13–15-foot-long king cobra was spotted near the banks of the Ganga. Residents immediately alerted the forest department. A team of forest officials, assisted by locals, managed to safely capture the snake after nearly an hour of effort. The rescue team faced challenges as the cobra kept changing positions. However, using expertise and care, they successfully secured the reptile in a special carry bag. The snake was later released deep inside the Rajaji Tiger Reserve, away from human habitation.
