Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Indian Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, has been temporarily suspended from the JD-S (Janata Dal Secular) till the investigation into the claims of his sexual assault is completed, the party stated on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. A woman who worked at their residence as a househelp filed a complaint against Revanna and his father HD Revanna, a JD(S) MLA, accusing them of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation on Sunday. “We welcome SIT against Prajwal Revanna. We've taken a decision to recommend our party's national president to suspend him from the party till the SIT investigation is completed”, JD(S) core committee president GT Devegowda said in a statement. JD(S) suspends sex-taint Prajwal Revanna from the party and show-causes him. Presently, Prajwal has fled the country. An SIT probing the case will be responsible to repatriate him, says Karnataka home minister Dr G Parameshwara.
