A fire erupted on the Pallavan Express travelling from Karaikudi to Chennai, prompting a swift evacuation of passengers on October 1. The incident occurred near Chettinad railway station, where a brake binding issue led to smoke billowing from one of the unreserved coaches. Upon receiving reports of the fire, the train was immediately halted, and all passengers were safely disembarked, as videos shared on social media show them exiting amid thick smoke. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries.  Reportedly, the train faced a one-hour delay while safety protocols were enacted, and the faulty coach was repaired.
