A gay lawyer proposed and got engaged to their partner a day after the Supreme Court denied same-sex marriage rights on Tuesday, October 17. They took to X, Formerly Twitter, to share the engagement pic. Ananya Kotia and Utkarsh Saxena, a gay couple, exchanged their engagement rings in front of the Supreme Court of India. The couple made this statement a day after the apex court refused to grant legal rights to the LGBTQIA+ community in India for same-sex marriage. "Yesterday hurt. Today, @utkarsh__saxena and I went back to the court that denied our rights, and exchanged rings. So this week wasn't about a legal loss, but our engagement. We'll return to fight another day,"Ananya Kotia posted on X. On Tuesday, a five-judge Constitution Bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud ruled in a 3:2 verdict against giving constitutional validity to same-sex marriages.
