Afghanistan cricket team players were visibly overcome with emotions after they beat Bangladesh and qualified for the semifinals of the T20 World Cup 2024 on Tuesday, June 25. In a contest where rain constantly played a threat, Afghanistan scored 115/5 in 20 overs and also managed to defend that total by eight runs (via the DLS method). Naveen-ul-Haq delivered the winning moment for Afghanistan when he trapped Mustafizur Rahman right in front of the stumps off the fifth ball of the 18th over. Mustafizur opted for a DRS, but it did not go in his favour, with the big screen showing three reds. As Afghanistan's win was confirmed, the players sunk to their feet and were seen in tears, having made the semifinals for the first time.
