India, put to bat by England captain Joe Root, lost wickets at regular intervals. Virat Kohli led the way with a half-century before Shardul Thakur staged a counter-attack to score a quickfire fifty of his own. India's problems with the middle-order continued with a returning Chris Woakes scalping four wickets.
India were bowled out for just 191 runs in the first innings of the fourth Test at the Oval, despite fighting half-centuries by skipper Virat Kohli and Shardul Thakur.
