The Indian wicketkeeper left the field after sustaining the injury and was replaced by Dhruv Jurel. Rishabh Pant, the vice-captain of the India National Cricket Team in the Tests, had earlier taken two catches off Nitish Kumar Reddy's bowling in the IND vs ENG 3rd Test 2025.
In an unfortunate development, Rishabh Pant had to leave the field due to a finger injury on Day 1 of the IND vs ENG 3rd Test 2025 on Thursday, July 10. During the 33rd over of the first innings bowled by Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant was struck by a delivery when he attempted to stop it and he was subsequently treated on the field. The India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper was in visible pain and was given a spray as well. Unfortunately for India, he could not continue and had to leave the field at the end of the over with Dhruv Jurel replacing him behind the stumps. Rishabh Pant was later seen making his way into the dressing room and fans would hope that it is not a serious one.
