Manolo Marquez Set To Be Named New Head Coach of Indian Men’s Football Team; Spaniard Set To Join Blue Tigers on Three-Year Contract
The Spaniard had led Hyderabad FC to the Indian Super League (ISL) title in 2022. Manolo Marquez had subsequently joined FC Goa as their head coach, with his contract running till 2025.
Manolo Marquez is set to become the new head coach of the Indian men's football team on a three-year contract. The Spaniard, who has coached in the Indian football arena for quite some now, will, however, coach the Blue Tigers as well as FC Goa, his current club, simultaneously. After his contract with the Indian Super League (ISL) outfit concludes in 2025, Marquez will focus completely on his role with the Indian football team on a full-time basis. Marquez has made a name for himself in Indian football, leading Hyderabad FC to the ISL title in 2022. He will replace Igor Stimac, who was sacked by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) after India had failed to make it past the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers second round. AIFF executive committee clears the way for MANOLO MARQUEZ to become the next India coach. He will coach club and country, pending agreement on a 3-yr contract.
Manolo has contract with FC Goa till May 31, 2025. Post that he will be with the national team on a full time basis.
