Monaco now have secured three points in their UCL opener against Barcelona. Monaco were the better side overall as per their attack and defence rate.
Ligue 1 side AS Monaco defeated the La Liga giants FC Barcelona by 2-1 in their opening UEFA Champions League (UCL) 2024-25 match. Maghnes Akliouche broke the deadlock early and scored for Monaco in just the 16th minute. Lamine Yamal from Barcelona equalised in the 28th minute and kept the hopes alive for the away team. But in the 71st George Ilenikhena turned the tide to Monaco's favour by scoring a goal and giving them a 2-1 lead. Monaco defended well till the end and were a better side than Barcelona.
