NorthEast United were able to win their maiden Durand Cup title as they defeated Mohun Bagan Super Giant in the final played at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. The scores were levelled at the end of the full time and the result came down to penalties. NorthEast United took an edge in the penalty shootout and won the match by 4-3.
