Palestine Withdraws From Merdeka Cup 2023 Due to Conflict With Israel; Tournament to Proceed With India, Malaysia and Tajikistan
The Merdeka Cup 2023 will proceed with the three teams but in a slightly changed round robin and final format after Palestine has withdrawn themselves from the competition.
Indian Football Team is all set to participate in the upcoming Merdeka Cup 2023 in Malaysia as preparations of the Asian Cup 2023. The tournament was initially about to go ahead with four teams, India, Tajikistan, Palestine and hosts Malaysia with semifinal and final format. Now due to recent conflict between Israel and Palestine, the latter has withdrawn themselves from the competition. The Merdeka Cup 2023 will proceed with the three teams but in a slightly changed format with Tajikistan getting a walkover to the final.

The competition format of the 2023 Merdeka Tournament had to be changed when only three teams competed : India 🇮🇳, Tajikistan 🇹🇯 and Malaysia 🇲🇾 after Palestine withdrew due to counter-attacks in the Gaza Strip.
