The young boxer got the better of her Kazakhstani opponent as she bagged a spot in the semifinals and also got an Olympic quota to her name. Earlier, Nikhat Zareen too had ensured a medal for India in boxing.

Preeti Pawar punched her ticket to not only the Paris Olympics 2024 but also ensured that she would leave Hangzhou with a medal as she entered the women's boxing 54kg event semifinals at the Asian Games 2023 on September 30. The 19-year-old beat Kazakhstan's Zhaina Shekerbekova 4-1 to enter the semifinals of the event. She thus became the second Indian boxer in the Asian Games 2023 after Nikhat Zareen to assure a medal.
