Phone Number Fee: TRAI Not Imposing Charges on Customers for Having Multiple SIMs or Numbering Resources, Calls Reports 'Misleading'

TRAI has opened up and updated on the speculations about it imposing penalties on customers for having multiple SIMs or numbering resources. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India posted on X and confirmed that it would not charge customers for keeping more than one SIM card. TRAI has called such speculations as "unequivocally false". The authority also said, "Such claims are unfounded and serve only to mislead the public." Previously, multiple reports said that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, following its press release titled "Consultation Paper on Revision of National Numbering Plan", would charge customers using two SIMs or more. It was reportedly that TRAI would charge a penalty for inactive SIM cards like many other countries. The reports said the active number was unaffected.
